Oxford Police Shoot Suspect

An unidentified man who was reportedly armed with a knife was shot and killed by an Oxford Police Officer Friday.

According to reports, Police received a call at 11:58 a.m. from an individual driving on Snow Street who recognized a man walking on the street as the suspect who had broken into the individual’s home.

The suspect also had several active felony warrants with the Oxford and Anniston police departments.

Later, another call was received saying the man was in Love Stuff’s parking lot. When officers canvassed the area they found the suspect in Dr. Phonefix.com and Accessories.

When the officers asked the man to step outside he refused before lunging at them with a knife.

The man was tased, but that did not stop him.

That’s when one of the officers fired his gun, killing the man.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has been called in as it is with all officer-involved shootings.
