Pick Up Collides with Concrete Truck on Highway 27

Ridge 2A wreck involving a small pickup truck and a cement truck – took place in Chattooga County on Wednesday afternoon. According to the accident report the pickup crossed the centerline and hit a cement truck belonging to BASIC Concrete out of Rome.

The company driver told media outlets following the crash – that if he hadn’t swerved at the last second he would’ve struck the pickup head-on; the driver also stated that he had just delivered a load of concrete to the construction site at Chattooga High School.

State troopers said the female driver of the pickup hit the concrete truck in the driver’s side front wheel, knocking the wheel and tire off the truck; the tie rod end could be seen lying in the roadway on Highway 27 along Taylor’s Ridge.

One of the troopers said the driver was either asleep, distracted or impaired for such an accident to happen; fortunately, no one was hurt in the mishap.

That accident remains under investigation.
