Piedmont firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on Hill Avenue, just before 4:00am on Friday.
The first engines on the scene arrived within two minutes of the call and they encountered flames coming from a vacant, two-story house.
Firefighters entered the structure and began their interior fire attack, however, the fire soon broke through the roof forcing them to exit the house and attack the blaze from the outside.
The fire was brought under control a short time later and eventually extinguished; fortunately, no one was hurt during the operation.
The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
