Police Investigate Monday Night Stabbing and a “Hit and Run” Incident

Gadsden Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding two incidents that may, or may not be, related.

Shortly after 9:30 Monday night officers responded to a report of a stabbing incident taking place in the 1400 block of Main Street; they arrived to find two men lying by the side of the street – one was intoxicated while the other, a 41 year old Piedmont resident, was found to be suffering cuts to his arms and hands along with a stab wound to the back.

Eyewitnesses say the injured man was stabbed by a 59 year old Gadsden man after the pair argued over a woman; bystanders said the attacker then fled into a nearby wooded area.

That person is also believed to have possibly been the man who was involved in a “hit and run” accident taking place about two hours later in the 1700 block of 11th Street.

The complainant called police to report that a man driving a truck, bumped into his vehicle in a crowded parking lot; he spoke with the man, who said he was (quote) “…too buzzed to deal with the police” (end-quote) – and then drove away.

The victim managed to write down the tag number of the truck however the tag apparently had been taken from another vehicle.

The truck was later found at a Main Street address and investigators are still attempting to put together the pieces of the puzzle.
