Police Shoot, Kill Baton Rouge Shooting Suspect After Manhunt

iStock/Thinkstock(BATON ROUGE, La.) — Police shot and killed a man who fatally shot a woman and injured two others while fleeing the scene in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday night.

The first shooting happened at 5:35 p.m., reports WBRZ, an ABC television affiliate. Investigators say the suspect shot a woman and threw her out of her car before fleeing the scene. The suspect then made a u-turn, opened fire then “plowed through a crowd of people,” striking a paramedic with his vehicle. The paramedic’s injuries are not life threatening.

Police launched a manhunt following the incident, eventually closing in on the suspect in a wooded area at around 10 p.m. Officers returned fire after being shot at by the suspect, killing the unnamed 48-year-old man.

No law enforcement officers were injured in the shooting, police said.
