Police Warn Floyd County Residents About Escaped Inmate

Update: The Floyd County police urged the public to be on the watch for an escaped inmate, issuing the following press release:

Be on the look out for an escapee form a work detail on Sproull Rd near Trimble Way off Kingston Hwy. Garrett Terrell Shields black male 5’ 8” 198 pounds 44 years old wearing white shirt and pants with one blue stripe on pants and blue collar on shirt along with an orange sweatshirt and orange  toboggan. Last known address is in Fulton County. He is on year two of a 20 year sentence for several violent felonies. Shields was last seen about an hour ago near that intersection. If anyone is seen matching this description do not approach but contact 911.

Previously posted: Floyd County police are looking for an escaped inmate near the Freeman Ferry Road area, according to Floyd County police spokesman Jerome Poole.

According to the Floyd County 911 Twitter feed the escaped inmate is a black male, 43, 5’8″ tall and 190 lbs. He was last seen on Trimble Way wearing prison clothing. There is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.
