Policy Change at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Makes Citizens and Deputies Safer.

Policy change at the Sheriff’s Office makes citizens and deputies safer.

chief-deputy-matthew-wadeDeputies have long possessed a first aid kit in their patrol vehicles.

The kits contained numerous items to include a tourniquet.  These items are great tools, but only if the deputy or others can access them quickly in a crisis.

A policy change was made to purchase tourniquet holders for deputies to wear on their duty belt and today all deputies are wearing these life saving devices.  The tourniquet is not only a tool for a deputy to save their own life but the life of another as just recently seen in Oxford, Alabama.  We want our deputies to have the tools necessary to protect and serve.  This is just one of those tools.

Sincerely, Chief Deputy Matthew Wade / Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office
