UPDATE / ROAD NOW OPEN

A portion of Highway 35 is blocked this morning due to an 18 wheeler accident which took place just after midnight (12:15am/Friday).
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the big rig, which was hauling a load of steel, went off the roadway on 35 near County Road 718 just outside of Gaylesville.
The road is shut down from the Gaylesville Four-Way Stop to the site of the accident.
There’s no word yet on just how long it’ll take to remove that truck and the payload of steel that was being transported.
Fortunately, the driver escaped injury and no other vehicles were involved in the mishap.
