The Alabama Department of Transportation was called to a hole on Highway 68 in Centre. The approximately 30 inch wide opening was approximately 5 to 6 feet deep according to the first DOT employees on site.
They had no explanation what caused the roadway to open up. A crew was called in to repair the road. The opening occurred in the turn lane near the intersection of the highway 9.
