Power Back On In Chattooga County

NorthGeorgiaEMC

Good news for folks in Chattooga County.

The North Georgia Electric Membership Company said that all customers who had lost power during the snow and ice storm Thursday should now have lights again.

Rain and wind Friday night hampered efforts of the company which supplies TVA power to customers in Chattooga County.

NGEMC said that the progress was slow on Saturday because the outages that remained were in more isolated areas and involved service feeds to areas with limited population.

In a statement Saturday morning NGEMC said, “In many cases, repairing a service line may restore power to as few as one to five members whereas repairing a main feed can restore power to a couple of hundred members.”

Georgia Power said on Saturday that around 50,000 customers statewide still were without power, but expected to have the power back on for those customers by late Saturday evening.

In Chattooga County, Georgia Power was reporting no power outages as of Friday evening.
