President Obama Lauds 'Historic Day' in Fight Against Climate Change

ABC News(WASHINGTON) — Calling it a “historic day” in the fight against climate change, President Obama lauded the landmark Paris climate agreement that takes effect Nov. 4.

“This gives us the best possible shot to save the one planet we’ve got,” Obama said in remarks in the Rose Garden.

While Obama said the deal will help delay some of the most pressing threats posed by climate change, it alone “will not solve the climate crisis.”

Seventy-two countries have formally signed the agreement, including China, India and the U.S, some of the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases.
