President Trump pushes ‘America first’ theme in speech at Boeing plant

ABC News(NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.) — President Trump visited a Boeing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina, on Friday for a tour of the new 787 Dreamliner. The president also spoke about jobs in the U.S. while touting his “America First” message from the campaign trail, with the new Dreamliner as the backdrop.

“We’re here today to celebrate American engineering and American manufacturing. We’re also here today to celebrate jobs. Jobs. This plane as you know was built right here in the great state of South Carolina,” the president said adding that we want jobs made in America.

“Our goal as a nation must be to rely less on imports and more on products made here in the U.S.A. Right here in the U.S.A.,” he said.

President Trump also pushed “America First,” returning to his campaign themes ahead of his campaign rally in Melbourne, Florida, on Saturday– his first since the election.

“You’ve heard me say it before, and I will say it again, from now on it’s going to be America first,” Trump said. “Working together as a unit there is nothing we cannot accomplish. No task too large. No dream too great. No goal beyond our reach. Just like you built this incredible airplane behind me.”

Following his remarks, the president boarded the Dreamliner for a tour and was seen sitting the cockpit.
