Red-Sweater Debate Guy Kenneth Bone Visits Jimmy Kimmel Monday

Bone, 34, became an Internet sensation mostly because of his red cable-knit quarter-zip pullover sweater, which he wore again for his appearance with Jimmy Kimmel.

Kimmel asked about the sweater almost immediately. Bone said he’d initially planned to dress much differently, but things changed.

“No, it was going to be an olive-colored suit that I liked very much. My grandfather helped me pick it out a few years ago, and I thought ‘Wow, grandpa would be so proud if I wore this suit.’ But apparently I have gotten somewhat more fat since then and when I got into my car, I split the seat out of my pants and destroyed my olive suit, and I had to do an emergency wardrobe change.”

Kimmel asked if he was swayed by either candidate, Bone said, “I think I’m more undecided than I was before.”  However, he shared his concerns about Trump.

“Donald Trump maybe is more in line with my economic interests, because I work in coal/electricity. But I would really hate for anyone’s rights to be taken back,” said Bone. “We fought so hard to get marriage equality and rights expanded to more Americans and I couldn’t — it would be unconscionable to me to see those taken away by a Supreme Court justice appointed by Donald Trump.”

At the end of the interview, Bone thanked Kimmel for having him and urged the audience to, “Please get out and vote.”
