Report: Baylor to Name Temple's Matt Rhule as New Head Coach

Allen Kee / ESPN Images(NEW YORK) — Baylor University has reportedly chosen its new head football coach.

Sources tell ESPN that the Bears will name Temple University coach Matt Rhule to replace former Bears coach Art Briles, who was fired back in May.

During his four seasons at Temple, Rhule has led the Owls to an American Athletic Conference championship and has a 28-23 record.

Jim Grobe, who has served as Baylor’s acting coach since Briles’ firing, will step down following the Bears’ appearance in the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl on Dec. 27. Baylor will go up against Boise State.
