Report: NFL Can Fine Teams for Posting Game Video on Social Media

BananaStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Football teams will no longer be allowed to post game GIFs and videos on social media after new guidelines from the National Football League.

Starting Wednesday, if NFL teams post any of their own videos from inside a stadium (including shooting video on Facebook Live or Periscope), the league could issue up to a $25,000 fine for a first offense, according to ESPN. On a second offense, the team faces a $50,000 fine and $100,000 for any additional violations, ESPN reports.

The NFL reportedly is issuing the new guidelines so the league “maintains control of what is disseminated,” according to ESPN.
