The Hollywood Reporter notes that Rogen and Goldberg, along with Sony Pictures, have started a full-court press to court the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences to consider the film for nomination.

The R-rated movie, which grossed $135 million bucks domestically on a $19 budget, will be screened on November 1 for members of the Academy’s short films and feature animation branch, according to the trade, as well as journalists and critics, and members of the Golden Globes-packing Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Rogen noted to the trade, “We’ve never been this passionate about a film and we’re thrilled to enter uncharted territory. It’s rare you really get to break new ground, and we hope that people view it as a good thing for the medium.”
