Representative Mike Rogers Sails to Victory on Tuesday

Mike Rogers x3Representative Mike Rogers sailed to victory Tuesday, winning a seventh term in Congress by easily defeating Democratic opponent Jesse Smith.

Smith conceded the race by 10:30pm.

Rogers was first elected to Congress back in 2002 – and he campaigned this time around on the platform that his growing seniority could be used to the district’s advantage. Rogers is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and is also a member of the Committee on Agriculture.

In 2012 he was appointed chair of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, and last year served on the committee which drafted the final version of the renewed Farm Bill.
