Resurfacing Projects in Cherokee County Lead to Questions From Some Residents

Roadways 1Four new road resurfacing projects are set to take place sometime next spring in Cherokee County – however, some county residents are upset over the fact that some roads they feel should definitely be on that list – are not.

County Commissioner Marcie Foster.

One road not on the list which has been mentioned by residents of the area as being in dire need of work – is County Road 43.

That’s County Engineer Corey Chambers.

We asked Chambers what would have to happen, in order for County Road 43 – or a similar road – to be considered for future work

And that brings us back to the age-old problem of not having enough money to go around

The projects approved during the most recent meeting of the County Commission included resurfacing of County Road 99, from County Road 41, to the Georgia State Line; resurfacing of County Road 41 from County Road 46 to the Georgia Line; resurfacing of County Road 47 from 273 to County Road 52 – and the resurfacing of County Road 46 from County Road 15 to County Road 91.

Commissioner Foster suggests that anyone wishing to see road work done in any particular area should write a letter, signed by local residents, to the County Commission outlining all of the reasons they feel attention should be focused on their stretch of roadway and if at all possible include photos to illustrate the problem.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission is slated for Monday October 27th at 5:00pm in the County Administration Building in Centre.
