Rome Man Arrested in Connection with Cyber Sex Sting Operation

Rome Sex StingA 52 year old Rome, Georgia man has been arrested, after allegedly traveling from Floyd County to Denver, Colorado – to meet someone believed to be an underage girl for the purpose of sexual contact; that someone, however, turned out to be an undercover investigator.

James Lee Pierce was arrested by First Judicial District Attorney Investigators – on suspicion of Internet Luring of a Child, Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child, and Attempted Sexual Assault of a Child.

The investigation into activities being undertaken by Pierce began December 31st of 2013, when a member of law enforcement was working inside a social networking site, portraying himself as a child under the age of 15. That officer was reportedly contacted through the site by Pierce, and communication from Pierce became sexually graphic as it continued over the next three months.

Pierce said he was going to take a bus to Colorado to meet the underage teen for sexual purposes and he arrived in Denver on April 17th – where the arrest was made.

He is currently being held on a cash bond of $20,000 – and he is expected to be back in court this Thursday (April 24th) for formal filing of charges.
