A Rome man was killed in a single vehicle accident Friday morning in Floyd County.
40 year-old Idris Dennis died after his 1995 Nissan Maxima crashed into a power pole.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:45 a.m.
According to authorities, speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
According to Floyd County police Sgt. Chris Fincher a witness said that Dennis looked as if he was traveling over 100 miles per hour, but did say that authorities were unsure of the exact speed.
While investigating the scene skid and tire marks indicted that the car slid approximately 100 feet before coming to a stop.
