Ruby Gordon Mitchell Pate
March 3, 1919 – August 29, 2016
Ruby Pate passed away peacefully at her residence at the age of 97.
Funeral service will be 5 P.M. Tuesday August 30th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Hosey and Bro. Jimmy Dan Clanton officiating. Burial will be 10 A.M. Wednesday August 31st at Sand Rock Cemetery. The family will accept friends Tuesday from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her four children, Jim (Londa) Pate of Birmingham, AL., Mildred (Ron) Ivey, Ft. Payne, AL., Trish Jenkins of Sand Rock, AL., and John (Sarah) Pate of Riverside, CA. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Nikki, Derly, Laura and Jonathan, as well as two great grandchildren, Bethanie and Winford.
Mrs. Pate was a resident of the Sand Rock community and an active member of Sand Rock Baptist Church. She was well known for her long time service to the local, county, and state chapters of 4-H and FFA, where she was added to the Alabama FFA Foundation Wall of Honor in 2014, and also nominated for the 4-H Wall of Honor.
Mrs. Ruby was also a talented artist, quilter, and dedicated to community service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Pate.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Sand Rock Baptist Church building fund or to Sand Rock School for the “S.E. and Ruby Pate Memorial Scholarship Fund”.
