Samsung(SEOUL, South Korea) — Samsung has announced it will permanently stop making and selling its Galaxy Note 7 phone just as federal regulators warned current users to turn off their devices for their own safety.
In a statement to shareholders, Samsung said it had tried to control production and strengthen quality control as it investigated reports of the devices overheating and catching fire. Ultimately, the company made the decision to halt production and sales of the phone.
Considering customer safety, Samsung said in the statement translated from Korean, “we have finally decided to stop production as well as sales of Galaxy Note 7s.”
