Scam Artists Now Claiming To Be With The IRS

IRS Scam 1Probably the three most hated letters in the English language at least when placed together – would be IRS – and that’s why scammers are using those letters in an attempt to scare the public into sending them money.

We have received reports that con artists claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service are calling people and telling them they owe money to the IRS – and if they don’t pay they’ll be arrested by local law enforcement – however – if they pay immediately, using a pre-paid credit card – they officers will be recalled and arrest will be avoided.

These calls have been traced back to foreign countries and it’s just another scam to try and extort money from innocent people; and by the way, even if you do owe back taxes, the IRS doesn’t ask members of law enforcement to come out and arrest you – not that they would anyway. That’s NOT how the system works.

On the other hand, if you receive a visit from an IRS agent – that may be the time to worry; otherwise just hang up and forget about it. You can always contact the Internal Revenue Service directly should you have any questions or concerns regarding your returns.
