School Board Hires New Automotive Tech Instructor At Career & Tech Center

It was a very brief meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education on Tuesday during which the board approved the minutes from the previous meeting and also approved the revised Child Nutrition Director/Transportation Supervisor/Maintenance Supervisor Salary Schedule.

The board also accepted a low bid for a Dish Machine from Dixie Fixtures in the amount of $20,000 which was the lowest bid.

Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice said the he is aware of the potential for some wintry weather however the worse of the system is forecasted to be well to our north, Guice said that he along with the Transportation Supervisor will be out early Wednesday but no delays are to be expected.

In personnel action the board accepted to the retirement of Felecia Steward, Elementary Teacher at Spring Garden School after 38 years of service.

The board also accepted the resignation of Jennifer Collins, Teacher at Spring Garden School.

Certified Placements included the hiring of Derrick Hooper as a Certified Automotive Technician at the Cherokee County Career & Tech Center.

Certified Transfers by agreement were Megan Crane from Cedar Bluff Special Education Teacher to County Wide Special Education Teacher.

Leave of Absences’ were approved for Samuel Thomas, Custodian at Sand Rock School, Lynden Seals CTE Career Coach at Cherokee County Career and Technology Center and Erin Young, Teacher at Cherokee County High School
