School Board Holds First Budget Hearing For 2017 Fiscal Year

The Cherokee County School Board held its first in a series of Budget Hearings for the Fiscal Year 2017 on Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Financial Officer Robin Cunningham presented the proposed budget to board members for their review. The projected beginning balance being $10,443,249.00 and a projected ending balance of $6,517,921.00.

The board will hold a second Hearing to further discuss the matter on Wednesday morning at 10:00 at the central board office on East Main Street in Centre.

In other business the board approved the purchase of four new buses from the current bus bid in addition to approving bids for three new special needs buses.

The board also approved a revised salary schedule for the Network Administrator and accepted a bid for tires from the Westmoreland Tire Company.

Personnel items approved included a list of 2016/2017 Title I Tutors at Centre Elementary School, those included; Mary Jane Bradley, Lisa Brannon, Michelle Bullard, Jill Chamlee, Ashley Clowdis, Tiffany Green, Terry Hopper, Kelli Lambert, Jennifer Lockridge, Leslie Millsaps, Jessica Rogers and Melissa Sliger.

Leave of Absences were also approved for Johanna Roberts, Special Education Teacher at Sand Rock and Robbie Stokes, Bus Driver at Cedar Bluff.
