Search Continues for Body in Weiss Lake

The search continues for the body of Bobby Shore – missing since December 13th – when an SUV crashed into the waters of Weiss Lake at Leesburg Landing.

Emergency personnel were notified at around 7:00 that night that the vehicle had gone into the water; it was soon learned that there were apparently seven occupants inside.

The bodies of Robert Hardin, Dale Steven Keener, Christy Hobson and Cheryl Hobson, were recovered a short time later meanwhile two individuals later identified as Kim Learned and Brittany Hobson managed to make it to shore and were taken to Gadsden area hospitals for treatment, later making a full recovery.  However the body of Bobby Shore was never found

Cherokee County Coroner Jeremy Deaton says it appears that Shore exited that vehicle – but  was unable to make it out of the water; the vehicle was reportedly in approximately 18 feet of water that night.

The Cherokee County Rescue Squad continues their search from dawn to dusk every day.

Cadaver dogs have been brought in from South Carolina and Georgia among other areas but without results.

The Rescue Squad will continue the operation until the body is found.

We’ll continue to bring you updates as the story develops.
