Search Continues for Missing Rainbow City Woman

ChapmanThe search continues for a Rainbow City woman missing since August 7th.

53 year old Beth Dowdy Chapman was last seen that Thursday – and investigators say her phone was last used about 2:00am Friday – it appears she was seen on surveillance video around four hours later at an Etowah County ATM, withdrawing about two hundred dollars. Her debit card was used at 10:00 that morning at an Etowah County service station – however no video footage showing who actually used the card was available.

Chapman was driving a rental car, after having been involved in a head-on collision on July 30th in Odenville. She was later treated at Riverview Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the wreck.

Hospital employees say she was wearing heavy make-up when she came in – in what appeared to be an effort to mask bruises on her face, and she told them she had “fallen out on the curb.”

Investigators say her cell phone now goes straight to voice mail – and they’ve checked hospitals and detention centers in Etowah, Jefferson, Calhoun, Talladega and St. Clair County without any success.

Anyone with any information on her current whereabouts is urged to contact the Rainbow City Police Department Investigations Division at (256) 413-1234.

She stands about five-feet-three (5’3”), weighing roughly 160 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.

The rental car she is traveling in, is a red 2013 Volvo S-60 with Illinois license plate #R950351
