Second Burglary Attempt Made at C&H Drug in Ft Payne

Authorities are still searching for a subject, or subjects, responsible for what appeared to be an attempted break-in at C&H Drug in Ft Payne earlier in the week.

While on patrol around 2:20am Monday – Ft Payne Police Officer Matt Jones noticed freshly cut wires outside the C&H building at 1916 Gault Avenue North, at which point he called for assistance and started searching for any suspicious vehicles in the area.

Moments later, a passerby informed him that they’d seen someone, dressed in all-black, run across Gault Avenue toward the Extreme Car Wash.

It was at that time officers noticed that the front door to C&H Drug had been tampered with and upon entry they were able to determine that someone had been in the store earlier and tried to get into the safe.

This is the second time this year C&H has been targeted; the store was hit in February, with thieves entering through a back door and stealing a large amount of pharmaceutical drugs.

Authorities say this attempt has similarities to the RiteAid burglary which took place in July in Rainsville.

Anyone with any information regarding any of these cases should contact Ft Payne Police at (256) 845-1414.
