browning-carl-toddA man wanted in connection with a series of Cherokee County burglaries, has been arrested just across the state line in Georgia.

Carl Todd Browning a 46 year old Summerville resident, was arrested by Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader last Wednesday (November 9th) on Chattooga County warrants for a Parole Violation and Burglary 2nd Degree.

According to the News Release issued by Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver on November 6th a number of local burglary cases had been cleared up with the arrest of 41 year old Eric Shon Burke of Summerville.  He was arrested in Walker County, Georgia on several offenses and awaits extradition to Chattooga, Floyd and Cherokee counties.

At that time authorities were still searching for Browning with investigators from Cherokee Chattooga, Floyd and Walker counties, as well as Cedar Bluff Police working together on the case.

Since his arrest, Browning has been held in the Chattooga County Jail without bond.

It’s unclear when he, and Burke, will be extradited back to Cherokee County, to face charges here.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver tells WEIS Radio News that some property stolen in the burglaries recently taking place locally, has been recovered following that arrest.

He would also like to thank the large number of citizens who provided important tips to the sheriff’s office concerning the whereabouts of both Burke and Browning prior to the arrest of each subject.
