Seven Hurt in Accident Involving Calhoun County School Bus and Passenger Car

A total of seven people were hurt in an accident involving a Calhoun County school bus and a passenger car Monday afternoon.

According to the Jacksonville Post of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency the wreck took place just before 4:00pm on Alabama 21, approximately one mile south of Jacksonville; the 2002 Chrysler, being driven by 20 year old Mason Kelly – reportedly struck the rear of the bus while it was in the process of off-loading students.

Both Kelly, and a passenger in the vehicle, 20 year old Melissa Daughtery, were injured and were transported to Regional Medical Center in Anniston for treatment.

The driver of the bus, 55 year old Kelly Carnes from Jacksonville, and four students were all taken to RMC for evaluation.

That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
