Sewage Spill Reported in Rome Wednesday Afternoon

According to reports out of Floyd County, Georgia the Rome & Floyd County Sewer Division reported a major sewage spill near 330 Woods Road in Rome.  

Close to 500 gallons of raw sewage reportedly spilled into a tributary of Beech Creek, about 5:15 Wednesday afternoon. 

Officials say it appeared that the spill was caused by root intrusion.

Plans are being made for extensive root cutting and cleaning of the sewer main.
