According to information contained in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a sudden storm last Wednesday evening (August 7th) resulted in several agencies taking part in a rescue effort involving a stranded boat with nine occupants near Yellow Creek.
the Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad all responded to the powerless vessel after the boat lost power during the intense storm. Some of the male passengers were in the water after the boat drifted away and they were unable to reach it.
