Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee EMS and Cherokee County Rescue Squad Rescue Nine Boaters

According to information contained in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a sudden storm last Wednesday evening (August 7th) resulted in several agencies taking part in a rescue effort involving a stranded boat with nine occupants near Yellow Creek.

the Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad all responded to the powerless vessel after the boat lost power during the intense storm.  Some of the male passengers were in the water after the boat drifted away and they were unable to reach it.

The Rescue Squad towed the boat to shore and all of the subjects in the water were rescued.

Five of the occupants in the boat were children; fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.
