A single vehicle accident claimed the lives of two Ft Payne residents late Thursday night.

Both 22 year old Gage LaMichael Howard and 24 year old Kelsey Ashton Smith, were fatally injured when Howard lost control of his 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 1500 block of Godfrey Avenue South, left the roadway and struck a tree.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

That accident, which took place just before midnight, remains under investigation by the Ft Payne Police Department.
