A vehicle struck a power pole on Highway 9 near the Country Store, at approximately 11:00 on Thursday morning, breaking that pole and sending live wires to the ground with reports indicating that a small grass fire occurred as a result.
The driver of the vehicle was apparently taken to Floyd Medical Center suffering non-life threatening injuries.
All traffic is closed to that area, as Cherokee Co op crews work to restore power – with road blocks being placed at 35 and 9 and 68 and 9.
We’ll have additional information as it becomes available.
