An 86-year-old Southside man was killed Friday evening in a three-vehicle accident.
According to Etowah County Coroner Michael Head – two other people were injured in the incident, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
The fatality victim’s name was not released pending notification of his family.
The accident happened about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Brown Circle North and Alabama 77 in Southside. A white Altima traveling south without its headlights on swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic.
An 18-wheeler, traveling in the opposite direction, swerved, and then collided with an SUV and a power pole, knocking out power to the area.
Jaden Amberson age 18 and Allyson Thacker age 16 both of Piedmont, were driving in the area when they saw the arc of downed power lines, then saw one of the vehicles on the roadside.
