Spring Garden Man Arrested on First Degree Sexual Abuse Charge / UPDATED

Miller 101A 68 year old Cherokee County man remains behind bars following his arrest on a charge of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree.

According to information contained in a news release by Sheriff Jeff Shaver – Spring Garden resident Steven Arnold Miller was taken into custody late Tuesday night, by investigators in the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit.

That charge against Miller stems from an investigation of the abuse of a child, that allegedly began several years ago.

According to the news release the investigation is on-going and additional charges could be forthcoming.

Arrest information posted on the sheriff’s office website indicated that Miller at this time, is facing ten counts of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree and his bond has been set at $150,000.

Sheriff Shaver commends the investigators assigned to the Major Crimes Unit for their hard work, dedication, and ability to investigate crimes of this nature to bring offenders to justice and give victims some closure. The Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit was formed in 2014 through combined efforts from the 9th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and Centre, Leesburg, and Cedar Bluff Police Departments. The Major Crimes U nit is tasked with investigating all violent crimes, crimes against persons, missing person cases, and any case in which their assistance is requested.
