Strong Storms Statewide Possible on Wednesday Ahead of Return to Sunshine on Thursday

Strong to severe storms will be possible across the state Wednesday as a strong cold front crosses the state, with strong winds a concern.

A few strong storms will be possible today in Alabama, but the big day for rough weather will come on Wednesday, according to the Storm Prediction Center. Forecasters there have placed all of the state under some risk of severe storms on Wednesday, with the highest probabilities being in north and parts of central Alabama. Forecasters will be watching for a line of rain and storms to develop and move into northwest Alabama as early as late morning on Wednesday.

Storms in the line and any storms that can develop ahead of it could become severe. In addition to straight-line winds, large hail will also be a possibility with the strongest storms.  An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out either.

A return to more seasonable temperatures will follow the front on Thursday.
