32 year old Cameron Lavorus White has been sentenced to serve 20 years, as part of a plea agreement in connection to the murder of one man and attempted murder of another.

Technically, White was sentenced to 20 years on each count to run concurrently – meaning he will serve each sentence at the same time.

White will serve five years as part of a split sentence; and should he violate the terms of his release during probation he would then be required to serve the remainder of his sentence

White pled guilty to the murder of Barry Wright and attempted murder of Lorenzo Gilmer – at Wright’s home, back in July of 2012 – Gilmer remains confined to a wheelchair as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting incident.

25 year old Raphael Lamar Simmons was convicted in 2013 of shooting the two victims; he was sentenced to a prison sentence of 62 years for the crime. Simmons has testified that he and White had gone to Oxford for a drug deal.

Assistant District Attorney Tim Burgess says he believed White had less culpability in that shooting than Simmons – with both Gilmer and Wright’s widow approving the terms of the plea agreement.

Charges are currently pending against a third suspect in the case – Terry Shondell Thomas; no trial date has yet been set for Thomas.
