Teenager Charged with Vehicular Homicide 2nd Degree

ClorfelterA Floyd County teen has been charged with Vehicular Homicide 2nd Degree, in connection with a wreck that claimed the life of a Kingston woman last week.

According to Jail Reports 19 year old Rome resident Katherine Lydia Clotfelter, was booked in at the jail Monday afternoon on the charge, along with the additional charge of Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.

Rome Police reports indicate that Clotfelter’s Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound on Veteran’s Memorial Highway when she failed to stop at a red light and then crashed into a Chrysler Sebring that was turning left onto the connector from Redmond Road.

The driver of the Sebring, identified as 48 year old Amy Brigham – was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Clotfelter, and a passenger in her vehicle, were taken to Floyd Medical Center – where they were treated and released.
