Rainbow City Police are still looking for a teenager being described as a “Person of Interest” in connection with the killing of a Riddles Bend Road resident over the weekend.

The body of 50 year old Tony McCartney was discovered in the bedroom of his home, about noon Sunday.

Police were dispatched to the residence to conduct a welfare check after being contacted by the victim’s son saying he was unable to reach his father.

It was soon determined that McCartney had been killed by a gunshot wound to the head.

Police are searching for 18 year old Hunter DeWayne Bellew, who had at one time lived less than a mile away from the victim.

It’s believed McCartney was shot during a robbery attempt.

Police say Bellew may be traveling in a 1998 white Toyota Tacoma pickup with an Alabama tag number of 31 BH 254.
