Ten Year Old Girl and Her Grandmother Continue to Recover After Highway 9 Wreck

IMG_2380The 10 year old girl injured in a Monday morning accident in Cedar Bluff continues to recover.

Fred Lucas, the father of Emily Lucas, tells WEIS Radio News that his daughter will have a long road to recovery after suffering bilateral broken hips and pelvic fractures, as well as a concussion and other injuries in the wreck.

Following the single-vehicle rollover on Highway 9 just before 10:00am Monday Emily was air-lifted to Eggleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.

IMG_2384Her grandmother 64 year old Jean Rutledge of Cedar Bluff, who was driving the 2002 Chevrolet – was also injured in the mishap.

Emily’s father wishes to thank all the first responders who assisted in the care of both Emily and her grandmother after the wreck.

Those responding to the scene included Alabama State Troopers, Cherokee EMS and Units with the Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Departments, along with the Cherokee County Rescue Squad.
