The Fresh Skint of Bel-Air: Will Smith Needed to Borrow Gas Money from Fan

ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — Will Smith can’t walk down the street these days without being recognized, but he doesn’t mind it. In fact, it even got him him out of a jam recently.

During an appearance on Monday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! the Suicide Squad actor recalled driving home a few weeks ago and discovered his gas tank was on “E” — 30 minutes away from his house. To make matters worse, he pulled into a nearby gas station, only to realize he’d left his wallet at home.

“I looked over on the other side and I saw a dude. He was, like, 36, and I was like, ‘That dude is a Fresh Prince fan,” You can spot ‘em!” recalled Smith. “So I kinda rolled the window down…after a couple of minutes, he was like, ‘Will?’”

“He said, ‘Hey, man, can I get a picture?’ I said, ‘Yeah man, I need about $10,’” continued the 48-year-old actor.

When Will attempted to get the guy’s information so he could to repay him, he said, “No way, that’s yours.”

Smith stars in the upcoming film, Collateral Beauty, alongside Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and Keira Knightley. It opens nationwide December 16.
