The Ministry of Silly Walkers: John Cleese Catches You Up on "The Walking Dead"

Gene Page/AMC(LONDON) — “In case you’ve been living under a rock — or hiding under a tank,” to quote Monty Python veteran John Cleese, you know that season seven of The Walking Dead kicks off Sunday night on AMC.

Cleese has been tapped by NOW TV to quickly recap all six seasons of the hit show.

As a narrator, the comedy legend runs through the entire series, from Rick Grimes’ spooky awakening from a coma into the zombie — ahem, “walker” — apocalypse, to finding out his best friend has been shagging his wife, right up to the season-six cliffhanger ending, when Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s “nutter” named Negan goes all “Eeny Meeny Miney Moe” with Grimes’ gang with the baddie’s barbed wire-covered bat, Lucille.

Along the way, Cleese ticks off several “rules” for the show to help the uninitiated catch up. Rule #2 is a potent one: just when the heroes find a safe place — whether it be the CDC headquarters, Herschel’s farm, the prison, or Alexandria — the rule stipulates “THERE ARE NO SAFE PLACES.”

Season seven kicks off Sunday at 9 p.m. Eastern time on AMC.  Incidentally, TWD fans across The Pond for whom the spot was created have to wait an extra day to see whom Negan killed.  Stay off social media, mates.
