"The Voice": Adam Levine Steals an Artist

Dave Moisan on “The Voice”; Tyler Golden/NBC(NEW YORK) — The Voice continued its battle rounds Tuesday night, with artists coached by Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys taking the stage in hopes of advancing in the competition.

Adam Levine’s team wasn’t featured, aside from a quick highlight of one battle featuring two of his artists. However, Adam was a factor in the final moments of the episode, when he stole another coach’s artist.

We again saw footage of this season’s advisers helping out contestants during rehearsals. Joan Jett lent her expertise to Team Miley, Bette Midler assisted Team Blake, and Charlie Puth took Team Alicia under his wing.

Team Miley was first up during Tuesday night’s one-hour episode. Lane Mack and Sophia Urista were paired together to sing Pink Floyd’s “Money.” In rehearsals, Joan Jett wanted to see more of a climax and dynamic between them.

After Lane and Sophia performed for the coaches, Adam commented that Sophia is a tweak or two away from being a “runaway” artist on the show. Blake joked that Sophia is prettier than Lane, but added that Lane came out swinging and would choose him as the winner. Miley didn’t take his advice — she picked Sophia. It was the end of the road for Lane.

Team Blake’s Courtney Harrell and Ethan Tucker went head-to-head on John Mayer’s “Gravity.” Bette Midler advised them in rehearsals to hold hands so they could better relate to one another.

After watching them battle on stage, Miley said Courtney’s voice is big and she has personality, but she would side with Ethan. Adam noted the rapport the two of them had. Blake named Courtney the winner, citing her impressive vocal ability. Ethan was not stolen by another coach.

We were then shown a montage of three more battles. Ponciano Seoane advanced over Team Adam teammate Elia Esparza; Josette Diaz defeated Charity Bowden in a Team Miley battle; and Maye Thomas claimed victory over fellow Team Miley artist Khaliya Kimberlie.

For the final battle of the night, Team Alicia’s Dave Moisan faced off against Michael Sanchez. Charlie and Alicia both encouraged Michael to play piano during his and Dave’s performance of “Valerie,” made famous byAmy Winehouse.

Adam was enthusiastic during Dave and Michael’s performance on The Voice set, and Miley joked that he was itching to steal one of them. Adam did indeed press his button after Alicia named Michael the winner. He added Dave to his team.

The Voice will air more battle rounds next Monday night on NBC.
