AMC/Gene Page(LOS ANGELES) — (SPOILER ALERT) Maggie awakens at Hilltop. She’s suffering from pregnancy complications and it was recommended she stay there.
She and Sasha visit the graves of Glenn and Abraham. “It feels like everything is wrong,” says Sasha. “Not everything,” Maggie responds hopefully. She rests the pocketwatch her father gave to Glenn on his grave.
Hilltop’s leader, Gregory, appears and chews out Maggie and Sasha for not wiping out Negan’s gang. He demands they leave, lest Negan think they’ve colluded. Jesus protests.
Back at Alexandria, Rick and the gang prepare to make a supply run for Negan. Carl isn’t handling the new reality well. Michonne hangs back, too, to “figure some things out.”
Enid climbs the wall, bound for Hilltop to visit Maggie. Carl lets her go, telling her, “I’m done rescuing you.”
At Hilltop, Jesus and Sasha have a heart-to-heart and bond over Abraham. He gives Sasha the necklace Abraham once gave Rosita.
Enid, meanwhile, continues her personal journey, but runs into a walker … who’s then run into by Carl, who drives right into it.
Back at Hilltop, Sasha and Maggie awake in the middle of the night to find somebody’s opened the gates, lighted fires, and begins blaring music from a reinforced car. Sure enough, the walkers come streaming through the gates.
Sasha attempts to shut the car down, but can’t open the doors, which are welded shut. Instead, Maggie drives a tractor over the car, flattening it, as Sasha and Jesus go on a walker-killing spree.
The next day, Gregory demands Maggie and Sasha leave, just as Simon, Negan’s right-hand man, and an army of Saviors come streaming in and into Gregory’s home. Maggie and Sasha hide in a closet.
Carl and Enid, meanwhile, have a romantic afternoon skate after finding roller skates in a bag.
Simon gets Gregory in a headlock and runs him into his study. He explains opening the gate was a lesson to the community; the Saviors were going to put them in danger just to save them — he didn’t realize Hilltop got help from Maggie and Sasha. Just when Gregory appears he’s going to rat out where Maggie is, he opens a closet — and ends up giving Simon some hidden scotch instead. Simon has Gregory kneel, and the rest of the gang plunders the town.
We learn Gregory meant to give them up. Maggie is furious, and when she spots Glenn’s watch in his pocket, she punches Gregory.
Enid and Carl end up at Hilltop, and he tells her he’s set on killing Negan.
Sasha has that on the mind, too: she asks Jesus if he can find out where Negan lives, and to tell only her — and is later seen sharpening a knife, one of Abraham’s cigars in her mouth.
Maggie and Enid have dinner, and she gives Enid the watch. They’re joined by Sasha, and the trio say grace.
The Walking Dead returns next Sunday at 9:00 ET/9:00 CT on AMC.
