Three Die After Man in a Stolen Truck Collides With Car

A high speed chase in Calhoun County on Tuesday afternoon, led to a two-vehicle crash that claimed three lives.

According to a report by al.com, a Calhoun County Deputy was in pursuit of a truck that was witnessed traveling in the wrong lane of traffic, with the driver running a red light on Noble Street in Anniston; the driver of the stolen 1990 Ford Ranger, later identified as 20 year old Ohatchee resident Jordan Stewart Baker, barreled down Old Gadsden Highway traveling on the wrong side where he entered a curve and collided with a 2006 Honda Civic.

The truck burst into flames while the car crashed down an embankment.

All three occupants of the Honda Civic died at the scene; they have since been identified as Melanie Brown Hurst, age 39; Melanie Dawn Trantham, age 43; and Joy Ann Howell, age 74.

All three were from Anniston.

Baker, meanwhile, was air-lifted to UAB Hospital for treatment.

That wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
