Three Men Indicted On Conspiracy Charges

The three men charged with federal firearms and explosives charges last month have been indicted by a federal grand jury and will be arraigned in federal court on Friday.

Thirty-six-year-old Brian Edward Cannon, 22 year-old old Cory Robert Williamson and 53 year-old Terry Eugene Peace, who list their address as 22 Tumlin Drive, Rome on Floyd County jail records, were indicted on a charge of conspiracy to receive and possess unregistered destructive devices.

New details in the indictment allege that the men were members of a militia and they engaged in online communications with members of other militias about participating in an operation that would attack government facilities, including law enforcement agencies.

They also tried to recruit other people to join them and to agree to carry out similar operations in their home states, according to the indictment.

The men were hoping to obtain 12 pipe bombs and two thermite devices but were arrested in Cartersville on February 15 as they attempted to obtain the explosives. The warrant says three rifles were found in the cab of the truck and Peace and Cannon were carrying pistols.

The trio will have an arraignment before Federal Magistrate Walter Johnson on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

In an earlier detention hearing, Johnson ordered that the men be held without bond.
