Tips for Winterizing Your Car Before the Cold Weather Arrives

With cold weather just around the bend – winterizing your vehicle should be near the top of your “To Do” list. 

Here are some common-sense tips to help properly winterize your vehicle.

Fluids
Check on your anti-freeze oil and washer fluid levels to keep your vehicle running smoothly and safely.

Heater
Check your heater and defroster now to ensure that they’re working properly.

Wiper Blades
Upgrade to winter wiper blades that can handle both snow and ice.

Lights
Test all your lights (including hazards) and make sure you have a spare set of bulbs handy.

Gasoline
Keep your tank above half full to avoid freezing your fuel lines and damaging the fuel pump.

Tires
Making sure your tire tread is in good shape and your pressure’s up to par.

Battery
Clean up any corrosion that may hinder cranking in the cold weather.

Emergency Kit
Pack an ice scraper/brush, flashlight, flares, blanket, hand warmers, water, snacks, jumper cables, phone charger and washer fluid.
