Traffic was backed up for several hours on I-59 in DeKalb County Tuesday afternoon.

The Ft Payne Police Department informed WEIS Radio, that a tractor trailer traveling southbound on 59 was involved in a single-vehicle accident at around 1:00pm, as the big rig rolled over onto its side and caught fire.

Fortunately the driver of the truck – listed on reports only as a resident of Alabama – was just shaken up and managed to exit the vehicle safely.

That wreck occurred at the Ft Payne exit near Greenhill Boulevard, with the roadway finally being re-opened at 5:25 that afternoon.
