Truck Driver Arrested in Gadsden Following Brief Pursuit

The actions of a truck driver after being pulled over Friday evening in Gadsden – didn’t do a lot to help his case; according to the report Gadsden Police pulled the 18 wheeler over after the driver was witnessed by other motorists driving recklessly, and apparently spilling fuel on the highway.

Just after 6:00pm, officers spotted the big rig at 12th Street and Meighan Boulevard.  A brief pursuit saw the driver weave in and out of heavy traffic, in addition to blowing through two red lights before being pulled over near 34th and Meighan.

The driver, a Georgia resident, then jumped out of the truck and held up his hands, allowing himself to be cuffed.

According to the report, he was “talking” to a woman in the cab of the truck, however there was no one else in the truck, at all; officers said that the man appeared to have no idea what day it was – however he did reportedly admit to taking methamphetamine and “some pills”.

The subject was then placed inside a patrol car, where he promptly passed out, face down.

The truck was towed from the scene and the man was transported to jail.
